MARIJUANA TREATMENT PROGRAM

Six months exclusive one substance focus.
Designed specially for the person who wants to take control and stop their marijuana use.

Focus:
Patient’s use of marijuana and reasons for opposing and favoring continue use. Answers to questions the patient has about quitting.

Model:
Harm Reduction to Abstinence
Employing motivational interviewing strategies to help a person resolve conflicting feelings about changes and to help them develop motivation to stop.
Patients will be able to join without providing evidence that they had stopped smoking marijuana before requesting assistance. Patients will enter group at varying levels of dependence.

Eligibility:
Marijuana smokers seeking treatment.
Ages 18 and older.

Program Description:
Twenty four weeks of group counseling along with individual sessions to address specific needs. Complete individual assessment within the first 21 days.
Groups meet for 1 hour 3X per week

Objective:

To learn how to prepare for stopping and how to deal with relapse risks.

This intervention is designed:

To help people quit using marijuana by the end of the 24th week (6months) of treatment. Patients that are unable to completely stop will be transferred to the outpatient substance abuse program.

A 90 day plan is developed as an opportunity to try out behavioral changes.

A review is conducted with the patients after every 30 days to identify strong points and to  identify and produce a strategy to deal with weak areas.

After the 3rd review if there is no change in use a 30 day window is provided to intensify and refocus on the problem area. If this is unsuccessful, then the patient is given a choice of more intensive treatment or return to the referral source.

Successful reduction or complete abstinence will entitle the patient to participate in Vocational/Educational training or referral for help in obtaining gainful employment.

Assertiveness Training.
Criticism— Challenging thoughts of use.
Consequential Thinking.
Practical Exercises in Newly Gained Knowledge.

30 Day Extension for those with difficulty in termination and late stage slips to ensure completion of the program.

These are additional services which can be provided to our clients as aftercare or for continuing personal growth.
